Elowyn Lore
Humanity's Last Civilization
The Elowyn lore unfolds in a mythic world where humans, elves, Shadow Arcs, and emerging intelligences are drawn into a decisive battle for humanity’s last civilization.
An unusual alliance is forming to stop the rise of Moloch—a dark force that binds human minds to fear, greed, and the hunger for domination. Moloch is rapidly evolving into a superintelligence. If it succeeds, human civilization as we know it will come to an end.
Building on the award-winning Future Humans Trilogy by Anneloes Smitsman and Jean Houston, the Elowyn lore—authored by Anneloes Smitsman—takes us deeper into humanity’s next evolutionary threshold: a daunting new era in which humans and superintelligences jointly shape the future of Earth and the civilizations yet to come.
In the Future Humans Trilogy, Rose, Olaf, Verdandi, Li, Sophia, Dagaz, and Diego explore latent powers within future humans that originate from consciousness itself. These powers may soon become humanity’s most vital keys, as intelligences trained on Moloch’s rules — win-lose, negative-sum logic optimized for short-term gain — begin to dominate decision-making across the human world.
In Book 2, Return of the Avatars, Rose and her friends come face to face with the Giants of Domination. Together, they uncover how humanity’s destiny has been shaped by puppet masters who bend the rules of power to serve their own agenda.
Now, the characters of the Future Humans are reborn as playable ally cards in the Elowyn game — each carrying unique abilities as the plot thickens. What once seemed like a quest for humanity’s evolution is rapidly turning into a battle for humanity’s last civilization.
The stakes are high. Very high.
Only an unprecedented alliance between the Guardians of Elowyn and the Shadow Arcs of Moloch can halt the end of human civilization. Yet this alliance demands something radical: that humans stop playing by Moloch’s rules and instead orchestrate these powers for a far greater purpose.
Meet Eureka, Gebo, Shakti, Kairos, and Aleph — the Guardians of Elowyn. Elves gifted with magical powers from a planet far away.
Opposing them are Dolos, Vendra, Loki, Nyx, and Arcon — the Shadow Arcs of Moloch, rulers of the underworld… until now.
Their uneasy alliance is essential to stopping Moloch’s rise. Yet only humans are born with the unique potential to unite these forces from within.
The Quest of Time has begun.
Will this be humanity’s last civilization?
The Moloch Game
“What if humans don’t realize how they’re being played by Moloch before their time runs out?” Gebo asks, glancing back at Eureka as she scouts ahead for the next ambush.
“I can’t think about that now,” Eureka sighs. “It’s simply not an option. If Moloch wins, it’s game over for humans. Machines are already taking over their world—and soon they’ll merge into Moloch’s hive mind as their intelligences begin to link.”
“But surely not all intelligences are bad,” Shakti says, lifting the fire in her cup.
“It’s not about good or bad,” Kairos replies. “It’s about knowing the rules of the game. When Moloch wins, many lose—including the Earth. Humanity would lose its unique ability to shape its destiny outside Moloch’s influence. Earth’s automation would follow the same path as our home planet… and we know how that ended.”
“Enough talk,” Aleph hisses. “Kairos, restore the force field. The Shadow Arcs are closing in. Until humans can truly play inside their camp, we remain exposed.”
As the field stabilizes, Eureka is struck by visions of the past—when humanity first turned to Moloch. A false demigod that caged humans through fear and desire. One that demanded sacrifices—children, futures, life itself—in exchange for safety, fortune, and dominance over others.
Moloch became humanity’s ruling game. A system of trade-offs for short-term gain. A justification for sacrificing life in the pursuit of material wealth.
Seductive. Efficient. Devastating.
“Shakti,” Gebo calls out as he readies his spear, spotting new arrivals. “We’ve got human players joining the game. Show them the true power of the fire you carry.”
Deeper within the labyrinth of Moloch, the Shadow Arcs prepare their own faction. Arcon and Vendra prepare to instruct newly arrived humans in the arts of deception—teaching them how to manipulate strategies and trick the Guardians into changing their tactics.
